For whatever reason – something only known by some higher power than us – there are handbags on the market that are absolute investments.
Maybe it is the way they are finished or the number of times they are processed through the tanning and softening process to make them the softest and most hand-processed handbags on the market, but these handbags command prices far in excess of what even reasonable people would consider reasoned.
For example, some years ago there was a television series called “The Gilmore Girls” and in one episode the young heroine of the piece is handed a “Birkin” bag by her love-besotted and ultra-rich boyfriend. Granny Gilmore, green with envy, eyes the bag jealously, but she wisely leaves it alone, while prowling around her granddaughter’s room but notes to Grandpa that “So and so has given (our granddaughter) a Birkin bag.” Meantime, the young heroine of the piece doesn’t realize the honor bestowed on her by boyfriend, thinking it’s nothing more than just a fancy book bag.
In real life, too, the giver and receiver of the bag would likely know that this is the world’s most expensive handbag investment at $35,000. It is actually known as a Hermes Birkin – and though it has been rumored the price has slipped some, it hasn’t been by much, when you think that the Hermes Kelly is about $10,000.
This only means one thing, though, that if you have the wherewithal and the opportunity then it might not be a bad idea to invest in a:
Louis Vuitton Speedy
Gucci Jackie
Lady Dior
Chanel 2.55
You will find prices running anywhere up to $7,000 or more for one of those handbags and their designs are timeless, they will only appreciate with time, thus becoming a better investment. Yes, gold is a great investment, too, and has been appreciating lately at a rate far faster than inflation. The same is true of quality handbags. They are just as valid an investment and, if you need to, in a pinch, you can also use the handbag to carry your possessions, something that is much harder with gold.
Why would someone invest in handbag? The answer is actually quite easy to figure out: it’s simply put “when you have it, flaunt it!” That’s about as basic a reason as you will find for opting for a $7,000 bag when a $150 Coach handbag will do – and even that’s priced too high. Yet, if you want any sort of quality you will have to spend Coach Handbag pricing to ensure that 10 years from now your bag still looks as good as it does today and still works as well. It’s just that those with money like to show they have money and that’s the reason some handbags are hugely expensive. So, if you find your great-aunt left you her Birkin in her will, she’s not slighting you in the least, far from it, she’s helping to set you up for the future.
