Maxwell Scott Bags on location: Allerton Castle
May 11, 2016 9:00 am Leave your thoughtsFor our Summer campaign, we traveled down the road to Allerton Castle in North Yorkshire. Our luxury leather bags looked right at home against a backdrop of pristine castle gardens, opulent rooms and typically British fields dotted with Spring lambs.
With a hot air balloon, a Triumph TR6 convertible and a 19th century castle to play with, the Maxwell Scott Bags team’s creative juices were truly overflowing…
Day 1
After thunderous and cold weather just a week before, we were lucky that spring decided to turn up in time for Day 1 of our shoot.
We hired a Triumph TR6 convertible, much to the delights of our founder, William, who had the wonderful task of driving it around for the two days. This beautiful motor epitomizes timeless, British design – a reflection of our own bags.
“As you approach the castle up the long driveway, you really sense its grandeur and the magic it exudes. The estate is a special place and a true hidden treasure in Yorkshire.”
The ladders came out when our photographer, Jon Cotton (Bang York), spotted a particularly comfortable tree for models, Ben and Hannah, to perch upon. It provided an excellent backdrop of spring buds and rolling green fields to shoot our casual collections.
A picnic by the pond created a picturesque scenario for some quality travel shots, polished off with a bottle of Bollinger, bien sur. In the 18th century, the castle and its grounds were owned by Prince Frederick, commonly known as the Grand old Duke of York. He definitely had plenty of room for his ten thousand men.
Day 2
Friday spoiled us with perfect hot air balloon conditions – a clear sky and very little wind. We crossed our fingers that the models didn’t suffer from a fear of heights…
With the balloon tethered to the ground, the models, Akil and Lynsey-Rose, excitedly hopped into the basket for a few shots. Although it seems that our beautiful duo are flying the balloon here, what you can’t see is the pilot crouched down in the basket!
“The hot air balloon took the photoshoot to a whole new level and brought an element of originality and fantasy.”
We shot our business collection in the castle’s idyllic walled garden. All menswear attire used in the shoot was from Guards 1843‘s summer collection, a bespoke tailoring brand based in London. Their quintessential British cuts and luxury fabrics complement our exquisitely crafted Italian leather bags to create a dream partnership of leather and cloth.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a wedding at the castle just a few years ago. You can definitely picture the royal couple sat on these plush leather chairs enjoying a glass of fizz. We thought this setting replicated a highly elegant business lounge, fitting for our smart and refined briefcases and travel bags.
And that’s a wrap!
Thank you again to Bang York, Guards 1843 and Hawkins & Shepherd for working with us on our Summer campaign. Until next time.
This Venetian chandelier in the Drawing Room of the castle is thought to have been a gift from King Francis II of Italy – a truly majestic piece.
