Our Favourite Places In York | The Best Place To Live In The UK

With an abundance of historic charm and friendly-natured folk, we are proud to call York our home. Here, some of the Maxwell Scott team share their favourite spots in North Yorkshire’s cathedral city…

Last weekend, the residents of York woke up to some unexpected but good news. They officially live in the best place in the UK – according to The Sunday Times, that is. Despite the ancient roman walls and the towering Gothic minster, York’s mindset is entirely innovative and forward-thinking. For one, the city has incredibly fast broadband and has been announced as the first ‘gigabit city’ in the country. A city small in scale, its sense of community is large and ever-growing with plentiful food, music and other cultural events happening every week of the year. It isn’t lacking in people wanting to visit this impressive city, either. According to Visit York, York welcomes 6.9 million visitors every year.

Jessica, Content Manager

After studying for her degree in York, Jessica found herself back in the city to work for Maxwell Scott. She lives in Bishop Hill – an area known for its thriving high street, Bishy Road.
