A fairytale that could’ve never have come true merely decades ago, the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle symbolises more than a celebration of love. It reveals a deeper meaning entwined with a revolutionary royal family – a tale of modernity and equality. The heart of this highly-anticipated ceremony will mark the moment where an English prince exchanges vows with the one he’s been waiting for – a Californian woman exuding beauty and intellect in perfectly equal packages. Whether you’re a royalist or not, this union of love is undoubtedly a valid excuse to have a royal knees up, if you will – especially as the pubs are open until 1am.

The Ceremony

On Saturday 19th May, the morning of the wedding, Ms Markle will arrive by car at St George’s Chapel with her mother, before her father walks her down the aisle. The ceremony will take place at midday and be conducted by the Dean of Windsor. The couple have chosen an array of musical performers for the service, from cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason to the Kingdom Choir – a Christian gospel group. After Harry and Meghan have been joined in matrimony, they will travel in a horse-drawn carriage around Windsor to celebrate the occasion with the thousands of well wishers that will no doubt line the streets. It is thought that the royal pair will receive the official title of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, appointed by the Queen on their wedding day.

After the procession, the newly weds will greet their congregation at St George’s Hall where the Queen will host their afternoon reception amongst around 600 guests. An evening reception will then take place at Frogmore House where the couple’s engagement photographs were taken. Hosted by Prince Charles, this will be an intimate and private night with around two hundred of their closest family and friends attending. Amongst them will be Meghan Markle’s best friends, Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney and actress Priyanka Chopra, as well as Prince Harry’s close cousins, such as Zara Phillips and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
