Maxwell Scott’s Best Moments Of 2018

It is time for celebration and reflection so, here are our highlights of 2018…

May marked our first foray into a bricks-and-mortar shop as we are now stocked in Abraham Moon’s flagship store. On the historic shopping lane Stonegate in York, also the home to our HQ, Abraham Moon opened the doors of a seventeenth-century townhouse. An iconic Yorkshire wool brand, the partnership of our two historic industries sharing a mutual desire to honour traditional craftsmanship seemed to be the perfect fit. Yorkshire truly is part of our roots and so, we are so pleased that we have established this partnership with Abraham Moon.

This year was also our first full year as official suppliers for Saracens Rugby Football Club. It has been another monumental year for Saracens as they won the Aviva Premiership title in June. Therefore, it is a great source of pride that as two teams committed to precision, history and skill, the Maxwell-Scott X Saracens partnership has enjoyed such a wonderful year. We are very much looking forward to our future plans, here is to many more years together.

The Maxwell-Scott Broadsheet Launch
2030 predictions

In September, the Maxwell-Scott Journal launched The Maxwell-Scott Broadsheet. Introduced in order to explore more complex business-related topics each month in an in-depth format, the Maxwell-Scott Broadsheet provides a place to discuss our industry knowledge along with other experts. Contributions so far have been made by Associate Professor of Business Ethics and Negotiation Teaching Unit at the IESE Business School University of Navarra, Antonino Vaccaro, transactional lawyer for DLA Piper Matthew Duncombe and James Harford-Tyrer, founder and CEO of Cudoni. With continually evolving political, industry and cultural topics which we actively discuss whether that be in the office or with other experts, we are looking forward to expanding The Maxwell-Scott Broadsheet archive over the next 12 months.

Perhaps the most significant moment of the 2018 came in September when we were announced as a finalist of Drapers’ Accessories Brand Of The Year. Introduced this year, it was the first time that the judges would vote on such a category for this prestigious night in the fashion retail calendar. Although after November’s awards ceremony we did not return to York with a win, it was a great opportunity to honour the year’s successes and a pleasure to have been recognised by Drapers, an icon of retail news. This year it truly did mean that we had a reason to celebrate…

Three Collection Launches

The Alessio Collection Expands | Shades Of Autumn

October 2018 was a very exciting month at the Maxwell-Scott HQ as we had three collection launches:

The Alessio Collection expanded into soft grain leather wallets for the gentleman seeking quality craftsmanship and a contemporary aesthetic. Our soft grain leather remains a full-grain leather like our classic leather option but has a matte, softer finish which adds a modern edge to our traditional British designs.

The Shades of Autumn was our largest collection to date as a brand, featuring eleven small leather goods (from purses to travel document cases) for women. This collection was designed by founder William Forshaw and designer Catriona Forsyth, who has worked for Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen and Karl Lagerfeld and so aptly reflects the daily life of the modern woman.

The Chain Collection

The Chain Collection is a duo of handbags with chain straps. Ideal for party season, these bridle leather handbags offer the skilled artisans take on a modern classic. The brushed brass chain strap is intertwined with the finest Italian leather – a simply stunning addition to a sleek handbag built to last many festive party seasons. The collection includes the Atessa large chain handbag which is the ideal size to take you from office to evening drinks and the Perano small crossbody handbag. This pairs well with all evening attire as a smart backdrop to both minimalist and maximalist occasion wear.

We have very much enjoyed spending Christmas 2018 with Mr & Mrs Maxwell-Scott. The Christmas campaign shoot took place across a few days at the end of summer in the Yorkshire dales. Here are five behind the scenes facts about Christmas with Mr & Mrs Maxwell-Scott:

1. The music was chosen because it had the feeling of a modern day fairy tale.

2. It took three 12-hour days and an extensive team to shoot the campaign.

3. There was a particular fondness for the resident set dog.

4. Canon 5ds were used to photograph the campaign.

5. Preparation for a Christmas with Mr & Mrs Maxwell-Scott began last December.
